Ritual Mainnet is Live
Ritual mainnet is live. Here’s what it means for autonomous agents, and why we built a Layer 1 where identity, inference, and settlement live on one chain.

Over the past three years, Ritual has grown from a proof-of-concept demo to a decentralized oracle network to a purpose-built blockchain for AI. We are deeply grateful to our early supporters and community members who have been both the foundation and catalyst for our growth. We are especially grateful for the teams who ran Infernet nodes in the very earliest stages of the network, and for the first builders who deployed agents and applications to our public testnet. Thank you for helping us realize a new generation of software - one which moves the flexible automations of the internet onto the verifiable security of the blockchain.
With the launch of mainnet, Ritual has reached a new major milestone. In this post, we will provide details on what Ritual’s launch means for the larger AI ecosystem and why this is a critical next step in the evolution of autonomous actors.

The Shifting Tides of Civilization
Ritual exists to meet the demand of three concurrent shifts happening across society, technology, and civilization as a whole. Software is shifting from a passive tool to an active autonomous actor, and as this new entity takes shape, there is a new assumption that humans can delegate risk, commitments, and long-term objectives to software. As non-human entities play a larger and more persistent role in our economy, there is a growing need to create infrastructure that allows intelligence itself to own, transact, coordinate, and interact with each other, with humans, and with a broad range of emerging and existing technologies.

Today, an agent borrows its existence and is closely supervised by its human operator. It is a tool that waits for instructions and commands – a bot that sits idly by until prompted. Today, we enter a new era of software; one in which agents can act on objectives, own capital, and inhabit a persistent identity. There is a significant difference between a world in which you tell software to run a query and one in which your software operates a business.
This is a much more profound transition than better interfaces or better automation. Humans are beginning to delegate judgment. As agents become more capable, the natural unit of interaction shifts from individual commands to mandates, budgets, permissions, and goals.
This creates a new trust problem.
From Programmable Money to Programmable Intelligence
Tokenization and smart contracts set out to solve the trust problem between two financial counterparties. Tokenization made asset behaviors programmable: an asset carries its own rules, and ownership gets disintermediated. The smart contract made the agreement itself executable.
If we apply this shift beyond the ownership and movement of assets, we see that software that is able to own, decide, and act will change every industry it touches.
Today, agents are narrowly capable, and their implementation and management is still high-touch and high-friction. Once we consider how a genuinely autonomous agent would actually work, we arrive at a few simple and clear conclusions about what would be required for in order to unlock that new paradigm:
- Agents that are to act on objectives such as managing a portfolio, operating a business, or holding capital on someone's behalf, need sophisticated, customizable identity and permission configuration.
- Agents need to be able to fund their persistent operation and operate under limits enforced by protocol.
- Agents cannot verify their own reasoning or prove what they did on their own; they need their inference, the action it triggers, and any commitment they make to be attested to and settled without an intermediary.
These three points illustrate the problem that currently prevents genuinely autonomous agents from being built. Blockchains provide the natural coordination layer because they allow actors that do not trust one another to establish ownership, identity, rules, and settlement without requiring a common intermediary. Ritual extends that model from programmable money to programmable intelligence.

Why Ritual?
Ritual is the AI Chain: the only Layer 1 built with the explicit purpose of providing seamless, native access to the broadest suite of modern development tools, including enshrined AI models; access to web2 services and APIs; and novel blockchain and privacy primitives. By extending cryptographic guarantees to software identity, inference, and reasoning, Ritual is able to set the stage for truly autonomous software without bolting on third party services or introducing additional layers of trust and risk.
On Ritual, developers or agents can access inference and compute without having to leave the chain, which frees agents to act autonomously, verifiably, and reliably. These architectural features allow builders on Ritual to explore use cases no other major L1 can host natively today: sovereign agents, identity markets, private multimodal interfaces, agent-native companies, and markets built for machine participants.
Every technology wave creates a layer where its new participants settle, and the value of that wave accrues to that layer. Bitcoin repriced on hodlers. Ethereum repriced on builders. Solana repriced on traders. The next class of participants is not human, and it will settle on Ritual.
Whichever chain hosts autonomous agents also holds their working capital, prices the intelligence they buy, and keeps the record of what they did. Value accrues to the chain that hosts the actors in the form of fees, settlement, liquidity, and state. Every cycle has worked this way.
On Ritual that accrual is where machine-to-machine payments, agent-native companies, heterogenous compute marketplaces, and agent-first RWA markets settle on the same chain. This captures demand rather than supply subsidy. Some networks pay emissions to produce AI somewhere else. Ritual is paid when intelligence is consumed on the chain.
This is what makes participation on Ritual simpler than anywhere else. You hold the working capital agents spend, supply the compute they consume, or build the apps they use, and nothing has to be assembled first. Keys, wallet, model access, and settlement sit on one chain rather than spread across four different layers.
Growing Ritual: The Last Layer One
Ritual has come a long way, and there is still much further to go. Since its inception, this project has evolved from a decentralized oracle network to a new native economic system for AI.
This evolution would not have been possible without our community who sees the long-term value of what we are building.
Since the earliest Infernet nodes came online, thousands of operators participated in the earliest stages of our network. When we launched testnet, the community rallied together to deploy over 2,000 agents to the chain sending over 90M transactions before mainnet went live. Our community of passionate and talented builders are growing with us, building hundreds of AI powered applications, continuing to engage on Discord and X.

The Ritual Mainnet launch marks a major milestone in the community's journey, and we fully expect the shape of the community change. If the first phase was marked by participation, the next will be defined by the builders. Ritual gives any developer native access to web2 APIs and scheduling, without the need for a third party oracle or keeper bot. This will allow for novel and highly lucrative applications and marketplaces to be built for privacy, inference, and compute. We are excited to see the next generation of autonomy and composable privacy built here first.
